There are over 19 million new cases of STIs every year in the United States, and experts believe the majority of sexually active individuals will have one or more STIs in their lifetimes (though many cases are never diagnosed or recognized).

The American Sexual Health Association (ASHA), founded in 1914, is the oldest national nonprofit with a central mission of stopping STIs and their harmful consequences to individuals, families and communities. In an effort to fulfill its commitment to better public health, ASHA reaches out with a variety of tools: hotlines, media campaigns, printed materials, community-based projects, support groups, research and advocacy efforts. ASHA provides up-to-date, factual information to more than 5,000 people every day
