Online Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B Education Campaign > For Men Who Have Sex with Men

Announcing the Launch of an Online Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B Education Campaign
for Men Who Have Sex with Men

The American Social Health Association (ASHA) announces the launch of an online hepatitis A and B vaccination education campaign, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The campaign was designed by Cohn & Wolfe for men who have sex with men (MSM).

Some men who have sex with men are at increased risk of hepatitis A (HAV) and hepatitis B (HBV) infection and, therefore, CDC and Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) recommend both hepatitis A and hepatitis B vaccinations. Vaccination levels in the MSM population are inadequate and so, as part of a five-year project, ASHA has posted an educational campaign, and a web-based evaluation. The overall goal of this campaign is to increase levels of awareness and knowledge, and to increase intentions to get hepatitis A and B vaccinations. It can be evaluated by visiting www.ashastd.org/hepatitis_survey/hepsurvey.html. Additional hepatitis information and resources are available at www.ashastd.org/hepatitis_survey/hepknow.html.

ASHA, a nonprofit organization devoted to preventing STDs/STIs since 1914, offers additional resources about hepatitis A and B including three websites (www.ashastd.org; www.iwannaknow.org; and www.quierosaber.org), a resource hotline, 800.227.8922, and brochures.
