Hey everyone!

For an upcoming issue, Seventeen is working on a story about STIs and the importance of you—and your partner—getting tested. We’re looking for stories from girls who wish they would have gotten tested, or from girls who regret not asking their guy to get tested with them. Here are the types of experiences they would like to include:

“He said he was a virgin, so I thought he was safe.” (Did he lie to you? Was he really a virgin—but had an STD from oral sex?)

“I had an STD and didn’t know it—and I gave it to a guy.” (Did you have an STD but no symptoms and not find out until it was too late?)

If you’ve been diagnosed with an STI and would like to share, please email health@seventeen.com no later than Wednesday, June 10 with the subject line: “STD Story.” Include your full name, age, date of birth, a brief description of your story, and your contact information. Someone from the magazine will be in touch to get more details. All correspondence is completely confidential, and you can discuss changing your name if you’d like to keep your identity anonymous. Remember, you’ll be helping lots of other girls stay safe!
