My husband just had a genital wart removed a few weeks ago. Do men have this virus in their system or does it spread from a women. I do not have this virus nor do I have genital warts, did he get this from another person?

HPV is an std that both men and women can get. If he has it, chances are, even though you may not be showing any signs, you have it too. If not before, you do now, of course. HPV can lay dormant for a long time. My doctor even made it sound like it could be years. That's why it makes it hard to pinpoint where it came from. If indeed your husband contracted it from someone else, it may have been from a previous relationship even before you. Now what I'm NOT sure about is if say you do have it, without knowing...show no symptoms/abnormal pap/etc...yet can pass it on to your partner. That I can't recall if it can happen or not. Perhaps someone more knowledgable can answer that.

EDIT: As far as the experts are concerned, HPV is only contracted sexually. Doesn't even have to be intercourse. Just rubbing genitals together can cause you to be infected. Same with oral sex, though, not sure if the risk is just as high or about the same. You can't get it from kissing as far as I know.
