Hi Fredo...I got my results. The only thing it says is that the tissue was benign. It doesn't have a CIN number or mention HPV. Also, the tissue they took from 1 PM (cervical clock) says something about chronic inflammation. I have a follow up visit later this month but wondered if you could shed some light on the results.

Hey there,

Your doctor or a nurse at the clinic are the best ones to explain your test results, so get them to sort it out for you. I don't know if it means there was no disease period, that is, no CIN....or just that no cancer was detected. In either case it sounds like a pretty good report.

Cervical inflammation is very common, affecting more than half of all women at some point in their lives. It can occur for a variety of reasons, including naturally-occurring bacteria. This too is something to ask about to see if they have insights into what's happening with your specific case.

Let us know what you find out, if you don't mind, and thanks for this update.

Best,
Fredo

I had my follow up....learned nothing except that the doctor believes that the inflammation is my body trying to fight off something. I have to get a follow up pap in 4 months.

The worst thing was that I waited 40 minutes in a room before she came in and shared that with me. She also said that if my next pap comes back as abnormal, that the HPV may be higher than she was able to see and I may need to get another colpo done. I'm really hoping that I get a clean bill the next pap.

40 minutes of waiting just for that, huh? And they wonder why patients are so frustrated with the health care system!

Fredo
