Cam, You should call your doctor's office and find out if your HPV test resulted in a diagnosis of high-risk HPV or low-risk HPV. The test will tell you which. High-risk is the type that causes abnormal pap results and possibly eventually cervical cancer. Low-risk is what causes warts, but no cervical cancer.
However, it is very possible to have high-risk HPV and still have a normal pap as the virus just hasn't effected the cells yet to the point of reading as abnormal on the pap test.
