I am curious about a few things: 1) When I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had a hysterectomy ten years ago, did the surgery "cure" my HPV? 2) If not, is it possible that I could still have HVP after ten years? 3) Because I had a high-risk HPV, what are the odds of my partner developing it as well?

I have not been sexually active for more than six years, but have now found a wonderful person to share my life with. I want to be up front with him on this topic, but am not sure of these details.

Thanks for posting. There is no medical cure for any virus, including HPV. Surgical procedures here are meant to treat conditions caused by HPV, such as cervical pre-cancers and cancers, but not the virus itself.

However, in most cases the immune system is able to clear HPV naturally, so most people don't experience HPV as persistent infection. While this is up to you, most experts would question the need to discuss with a new partner an HPV diagnosis you had a number of years ago.
