I have just been diagnosed with HPV. I am going soon to get a colposcopy. I talked to the nurse on the phone and she told me I will continue to get HPV back if I continue to have sex with my boyfriend. Now, that makes no sense to me because say I broke up with this guy and then later on found another boyfriend and then had sex with him, wouldn't we continue to spread it back and forth?? Does anyone understand what I'm trying to ask?? Also I read on a couple websites that your body becomes immune to a certain type of HPV, so the answer would be no about sharing it back and forth but then on other websites it says you can..

Somebody please give me some links or websites or any type of information about this
I'm really upset because I don't want to break up with my boyfriend. I am in love with him and would like to continue this relationship and see where it goes...

Thank you in advance for anyone who answers this thread :)
God Bless

Hi guest777,

Most experts don't think HPV gets "ping ponged" back and forth the same way, say, untreated chlamdyia can. HPV seems likely to clear on it's own regardless, although some small studies do indicate that couples using condoms clear HPV infections a little more quickly (it's not clear just why).

Read the discussion at viewtopic.php?t=208 for more on this.

Best,
Fredo
