Dear experts, I am infected with high risk genital hpv. What is the proper way to disinfect hands after touching genitals (such as after toilet use or while showering) to prevent the spread of the virus to others? Thanks. :)

Hello and thanks for your post. I've never heard any special precautions urged regarding HPV and hand washing, so a normal routine of soap and water should suffice. There is probably no real risk of transmitting the virus to others, say, by hugging, shaking hands, touching objects they use, etc. The real issue re: transmission is with sexual partners.

Hope this helps, post anytime.

Best,
Fredo

Thank you for the advice Fredo. I am guessing Fredo's advice = official ASHA advice. Right? :) I guess my only other question is, are there any other hygiene measures or general precautions I should take to prevent non-sexual spread?
