Thanks for your post. As far as we know, Trichomoniasis is sexually transmitted. The organism is actually a parasite that for women most often is found in the vagina, while men typically cary "trich" in the urethra (the tube where urine comes out). Men usually don't have symptoms; some women don't have symptoms, either, but they do more often than men and can experience things like irritation and discharge.
Trich can be cured, usually with a drug like Flagyl.
It's hard to rule anything out, and it's not too hard to imagine non-sexual scenarios where the parasite is transmitted. These are not well documented and are probably unlikely, I think we can say, but there are unexplained cases.
