I got my Herpes diagnosis about 6 months ago. When my primary physician gave me the bad news over the phone,he was very insensitive. In his own words: it is not like I am giving you a cancer diagnosis. My OB/GYN tries to make it seem like it is really nothing. I was wondering if there are any physicians/alternative medicine practitioners specialized in STD treatments, someone compassionate I can really talk to about treatment options and emotional related issues.

If you've yet to do so, post this on the herpes board. I'm sure you'll at least get some insight and support from folks on that board, as it's very active.

Sorry you didn't get a good response from your healthcare provider. It's true that herpes seldom carries any real health risks, but that overlooks the emotional impact that, for many, is the hardest aspect of all with which to cope. You're doing the right thing by seeking answers and getting educated, and I hope through these boards you find some of the info you need.
