I received a negative hiv test after 9 weeks, i was reading that most tests are good after 8 weeks. is this long enough?

It's good. :D
Most people who have HIV have a positive test by that juncture so it's not likely your results will change. However, it is still recommended to have a test at 3 months to make absolutely sure.
