Hi,

Quick question in re to Gonorrhea (':?:'):

How long after infection can gonorrhea be diagnosed in a woman's body?

The reason why I'm asking is that my mother is worried that she could have passed on a gonorrhea infection to me upon birth, and that this could potentially be responsible for the problems I have had recently with my eyes, i.e. conjunctivites about 3 times within the last two years, and now a cornial infection / keratitis.

To me this sounds rather unlikely, given that I'm 30 years old now and never had any issues with my eyes before (apart from the fact that I've got impaired vision...as many other people do). Wearing contacts and now (since 3 years) living in a country where humidity is quite high (compared to where I lived before) sounds more logic for a reason.

Nevertheless, is there a possibility that this could be a late affect?

And is there any way I could find out if I had Gonorrhea, assuming my mum had passed this on to me 30 years ago?

Greatly appreciate anyone trying to shed some light on this for me!

Thank you very much!

If you search on ASHA's site you will find more information about this STD too.

Hang in there,

The best way to know anything is to go to the doctor/ health department whichever and get tested!! ask questions to the doctor and if they dont know, keep asking until you find someone who does!! [/quote]
