Last night made a big mistake and had an encounter with another man I had just met. We engaged in short mutual masturbation, kissing and then I both gave and received very brief oral sex for about 10-15 seconds each with no ejaculation.

Is it possible to quantify on a scale of 1-5 the risk in this? I'm engaged and was tested last year, but I'm so stressed that I could pass something on to my future wife.

With a number of STDs, like herpes, chlamydia, HIV, and HPV the risk of oral sex is thought to be a good bit less than with vaginal or anal intercourse, but I don't know how to precisely assess the risk.

Increasingly, experts think the risk of oral sex doesn't justify a strong demand that people use condoms here, except perhaps in high risk settings such as commerical sex, or oral sex with a partner who's known to have an STI. Condoms might also be a good precaution for oral sex with an anonymous partner.

Any questions, of course, check with your healthcare provider to see what they might recommend for you.

Best,
Fredo
