The test results show that you are positive for Herpes Simplex 1 and negative for Herpes Simplex 2. The results can't tell if this was a recent or past infection. Don't go by the Igm results because those have too many windows for error .
Simplex 1 is very common and over 70% of adults have HSV 1. It is mainly acquired in childhood. For example, your mom kisses you and if she ever had a cold sore then she just passed it on to you. It also prefers the face but in some cases can be transmitted by oral sex. Simplex 1 prefers the face but when it is in the genital region, it loses it's punch so to speak and in most cases, outbreaks are mild and less common. A small percentage of people have frequent outbreaks but Herpes can be managed with antivirals, stress management, and diet.
