After some sleep, I realized that my attempt at humor last night (errrr...not great to be here) was possibly offensive. Sorry, I am GLAD to be here. I was just wishing I didn't have herpes.

Now that I've read about the virus, I'm appalled at the number of people who have it and don't know it. I thought I contracted a unusual "bad-girl" disease, now I realize it's common. How terrible that people don't get told about this!

To put things in perspective (how common this is)
Genital Herpes effects about 20% of adults, so for comparison:

An estimated, 20.9% of all adults (45.1 million people) smoke cigarettes in the United States.

About 20% of all people 18-54 go to church every week

22% of households still use dial up

Okay, I can keep going...but these are common things- and so is herpes.
It's just I can't talk about it at dinner parties.

I don't think anyone took offense at your sense of humor. They tolerate mine too most of the time :)

Hang in there - it will get easier :)

Not offended at all! Wish I didn't have Herpes either....who does? :) Dial up??? LOL

However, Herpes probably helped me meet my wonderful wife who also had Herpes when I met her. :D
