Hello, just had a quick question. I contracted HSV2 when 19 and was raped (i'm 40 now). I still get outbreaks quite often (6 a year). I do not have health insurance and was wondering if Lysine and/or Dynamiclear (both of which I only found through the internet) are helpful in suppressing ob's.

Thank you.

I don't recommend either of them at all. Lysine only showed any difference at all in reducing ob's when you took the 1 gm 3x/day dose and even then it was a minimal reduction. You'll pay more for lysine at this dose than you will generic acyclovir.

dynamiclear is something some folks thinks helps to heal an ob faster but it won't suppress ob's. It's also pricey.

You can get suppressive therapy with acyclovir for under $20/month with a prescription from your provider at walmart and similar stores. Also look into some chain stores discount programs - sometimes you pay X amount of dollars a year to get your prescriptions all at a reduced price. You can also have your provider see if you qualify for the gsk bridges to access program. If you do, you can get valtrex free thru them so it's worth putting a phone call into your doctor for after you've checked them out online to see if you qualify - http://www.gskforyou.com/15_programs.htm
