I've had cold sores since i was very small, say 5 and thank god they recurr less often and less severely now that im 43. I've been living with them all my life, so long I forget about them other than dealing with them when they happen and managing my triggers - without really thinking about it :)

I'm dating someone new, who has had cold sores but doesn't have them now, who feels that since they've been exposed there's no reason to avoid kissing when I have a rare out break (like now, lol). After doing a bit of web research it seems likely that this is correct but i'm unsure - i don't want to do any harm..

from the research i did it seems I don't have oral hsv2 since that apparently doesn't recurr although they could have had that, which means my hsv1 could infect them and the first infection is nasty.. not something i want to put my new love through...
