I was diagnosed with HSV about 15 years ago. I still struggle with the shame or stigma of it.

Typically I have outbreaks only once a year, maybe twice. Always in the same place, my pubic area. Managable.
In recent months, I have had several outbreaks and in a new area, further down!

What could be the cause for this newer, and more frequent outbreak and location?
I was in a 20year relationship, now I have a new partner for the past year.
He does not have HSV, or didn't, and hasn't been tested since we've been together..
If he does have it, could this be the cause? DOES IT SPREAD TO OTHER AREAS?

I'm confused and concerned with this spreading. I always felt a little relief that it was only in my pubic area, now I'm fearful of what will happen next. will it continue to spread???

Welcome to the board!

This isn't the virus spreading, it's the way it typically acts. It's not unusual for lesions to appear in more than just the "usual" area over time.

If you are female, have you been to your provider to get tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too?
