so how long does the first outbreak last? the virus has tracked to my butt and has produced a sore as low as a quarter way to my knee. it's been about two week's now and the blisters are getting painful whereas they didn't cause any pain before.

Background:
I'm not a sexually promiscous guy. I went 2.5 years before hooking up (having any kind of sex) with an old girlfriend (12 years ago) that I reconnected with through myspace. 1 to about 2 weeks after I noticed my first blister.

Anyway, I haven't been tested yet but it is quite obvious what I have. The Internet is a great tool.

My main question is, does showering spread the virus to other nerve roots? It seems it has gotten worse as I shower. Well to be honest I have alot of questions but that's my main one. I'm ok with this after a bout of 2-day anger and depressed thinking but after doing some research it made me feel sad for others but better for myself that it is such a prevalent STD to have. I think I've found a new family here that shares the same problem and reading post's have made me feel better.

So this is your first ob and you haven't seen a doctor? Do I have that correct?

Also do you only have lesions down the back of your legs or do you also have them on your genital area?

You can have herpes on the butt and down the legs but many other things can also cause symptoms like that so you should be seen and properly examined. You can have bacterial and fungal infections that can get rather nasty too.

The first ob on average lasts 2-3 weeks but it can linger longer.

No showering doesn't spread the virus.

Go be seen.
