Hi Betsy,

I hope you are well...

Have a quick question:

Is it possible to contract HSV1 (on the upper leg) if your partner passionately kisses this area (and is shedding the virus)?

you can but the risk overall is pretty darn low. the skin there is pretty thick.

Hey Betsy,

Thanks for your answer. One more: can genital HSV 1 show up (and reoccur) anywhere in the boxer's short area or does it typically stay in the vaginal area?

Thanks.....

it's just like hsv2, anywhere in the boxer short area.

Hi Betsy,

Thanks. I think I've contracted GH1. My bf is HSV1 and 2 positive (oral and genital). Before we started having sex I had a blood test and it revealed I was negative on both fronts. About six weeks I developed a bunch of sores on my upper thigh, that had all the telltale signs of herpes, tingles, numbness, etc., about a week after he kissed me rather passionately on the legs (no oral sex, though). The culture was done a bit late and was negative, as the clinician expected. The blood test, done around two weeks ago, revealed that I'm positive for type 1 and not 2. Weird!!!!!

The sores have returned again. Going to the doc. now. Could it be GH1 on the leg. How often would something like this typically return? Are the recurrences milder than GH2 (or just fewer in number)? Thanks

Thank you. Will do.

Based on your experiences, how often (statistically speaking) does HSV1 genitally occur outside of the genitalia but in the boxer's short area? For example, in 20% of people with HSV1 genitally?

Does HSV1 genitally typically occur more often than HSV1 orally?

hsv1 genitally tends not to reoccur much at all.

if this culture is negative and the rash reoccurs, see a dermatologist.

Thanks....still waiting for the results.....

A couple of questions:

1) Is three or so outbreaks in the first six months of GH1 normal? Can this be indicative of having a very active GH1 recurrent rate pattern?

2) What is more likely to spread GH1 1) hand job after touching mouth 2) kissing thick skinned areas?
