Hope all is well. I have a few questions

1. First time exposure of oral HSV 1 for an adult (35 yrs old) - could that adult come down with a high fever, sore throat and white "puss" on the back of the throat. Dr. diagnosed it as strep. Swab came back negative. But, antivirals helped by the next day. Could this have been a first exposure of HSV 1. Nothing on the lips, etc.

2. And, if this was HSV could it have been transferred via oral sex two weeks later once I felt better?

3. I've been off Acyclovir for two months now. Still get random finger tingles, knee tingles, scalp tingles, etc. But, they are much less frequent and much less severe. What worries me the most though is that every time I take a shower I have a handful of hair in the drain. How long until the hair loss stops? And, will it ever grow back?

antivirals won't make things better the next day for herpes.

seasonal hair loss is pretty normal. continue to follow up on that with a dermatologist if you are concerned.

are you seeing a neurologist about the other issues?

Thanks. That's what I thought about the antivirals, could have been a coincidence. Not sure why the swab came back neg for strep. That's why I was wondering if it could be a first OB.

My hair is thinner for sure. And, I have a handful of hair in the drain after the shower. I guess I just thought all the side effects would stop after taking the antivirals. All in all i'm much better off the antivirals for sure. That stuff is strong!

I hadn't had insurance in awhile. Looking to get it again and a neurologist will be my first stop!

I've been losing tons of hair for the last month or so. happens every year in the fall. between my daughter and I, I think we could be making wigs !

lots of viral infections going around that cause sore throats - it's not always strep.
