Unfortunately we don't have info on same sex transmission
If you are having 6 recurrences a year, perhaps you'd be better served by taking daily suppressive therapy? It reduces ob's so that there are less disruptions to your sex life in general as well as it reduces transmission to a partner.
your partner can contract hsv2 orally though overall the risk is fairly low. Protected oral sex would reduce the risk as well as daily suppressive therapy reduces the risk also since there is less shedding of the virus overall.
no, you are not contagious from the entire boxer short area. You can have ob's anywhere in the entire boxer short area but the skin on the non-mucosal skin in those areas isn't contagious without an obvious lesion present. when you think of shedding without obvious lesions present, think the soft pink tender skin in our anal and genital area.
