Hi. I've been talking to this girl for a bit now, and yesterday she told me that she got bad news from an STD test she took last week at her doctors that she has HSV2. Now, having had HPV myself years ago, I know what it's like and I'm trying to help her sort through all the fears. I immediately asked her to get her Igg number. she said it was HSV2+ 3.2

This is the thing. She broke up with her ex bf in October(that was the last time they slept together) of last year, I guess he was the one that suggested getting tested. He said he was fine, no STD's. She did fool around with someone in February(no intercourse), he said he was fine when she called him. She has never had an OB, but now she is super paranoid any day she will have one. I have a couple of questions.

Should she expect an OB soon, or what do you think is going on?

She got put on medicine. Is this necessary when she has never had an OB?

Could this be oral HSV2?

Actually at this point, no reason to be put on medicine for herpes. She has a low positive hsv2 igg and needs to confirm her status with confirmatory testing to make sure it isn't a false positive. she should seek out a herpes WB for this. If her provider uses quest labs, it's test #34345. it's a send out to the U of washington from all quest labs if her local quest is having problems finding the proper test.

Thank you. That was what I was looking for. I will tell her to get re-tested.
