Yesterday I awoke with both wrists in a sort of nerve-type pain, as if they'd been bent inward for a long time. The rest of the day, the skin felt very raw and inflamed, though there was no redness, marks or sign of anything else on the skin. Also a small, similar pain area near one elbow. I was first diagnosed with HSV2 in February after a horrible first outbreak--I began with pain in the backs of both legs. In April, I had a recurrence which was very mild, only one red dot, with no pain. Is the wrist pain an early symptom, do you think? Thank you for your help.

Thanks for your post. Sorry you're having to deal with the pain. Herpes doesn't typically cause pain in the wrists like you're describing but not sure what the most likely cause of your discomfort might be. Ask your health care provider about your symptoms to see what they think might be going on.

Did they offer you any medication for the herpes to use during outbreaks?

Hi Fredo--Yes, I was prescribed acyclovir to take during outbreaks. I took it as soon as I realized I was having the second outbreak and it helped.

Definitely follow up on this with your provider today or tomorrow. It's not related to your herpes.
