depressed and worried

hi I was diagnosed about a year and half ago with HSV type 2 it was a blood test
I am worrying now about what if I meet someone new and if we get to the point of being intimate how can I prevent transmission of the virus.....also am concerned because I live in an apartment with my son , his fiancee and their new baby son
I also have two beautiful granddaughters with whom I enjoy spending time
I want to know is it safe for me to hug them?
what about when we say bye..
what am I to do?
