Hello!

I am a 19 year old female, only had intercourse with one male and have been in a monogomous relationship with him. However, in July I was pressured to engage in some genital rubbing with another male who was a lot older than me. About a month after the incident he informed me he has genital herpes. I don't remember ever having any type of sore or blister.. I remember being sore from the friction of rubbing and I don't recall seeing any sores on him either. But I'm very scared that I could have caught it! I'm losing sleep over it, especially because I regret not saying no and that I could put my boyfriend at risk. What is the chance that I could have caught it?

This was incredibly low risk. Honestly I wouldn't even recommend any testing because of it. If you do need the peace of mind to help you move past the guilt of it all, by all means seek out a type specific herpes igg blood test but no reason to test just from this encounter.

Thank you very much :) I got tested and the doctor called with the results and they just said it was negative- I asked for specific numbers and they said that it just said I was negative. What test do you think I got? And 11 weeks & 5 weeks post exposures is when I had the test- do you think it's definitive? Thank you!

I wouldn't bother with any further testing from this.

Awesome, thank you very much. I figured that even though I wasn't checking for lesions I would have probably known I had an outbreak since I"ve never had HSV1 before (no cold sores) and I heard that someone who has never been infected with either gets a pretty intense outbreak. Is that correct?

First outbreaks tend to be more intense in someone who has no previous HSV antibodies, yes. The intensity can still vary a lot, but it's true in general.
