I understand that smoking or drinking of alcohol can cause a recurrence of genital warts or for warts to show up more. But what about food? I read somewhere that drinking coffee and eating chocolates actually causes more warts to appear or they will provoke them to recur. Is that true or are these all old wives tale? Are there any facts leading to this? Would really appreciate some response here so I know what not to eat and what to eat. Thanks in advance!

You usually hear this discussion more in the context of reducing the chances of cervical cancer, rather than warts. I'm not aware of anything that's been proven...with women and "high risk" types of HPV you hear researchers mention diets rich in beta-carotene and B vitamins, lots of leafy greens, etc. Not smoking is key with any HPV infection, as smoking can hamper the immune system's ability to respond to the virus.

Best,
Fredo

Thanks so much, Fredo. I really appreciate this. I haven't been drinking coffee and such, I thought it might provoke something. I've decided to go back to drinking coffee now. I have never been a smoker and I only drink when there's an occasion (which is rare), other than that, I should be fine. Thanks so much for your response.
