Dear ASHA,

I am working on a book on sexually transmitted diseases and would like to interview people whose have been treated for chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis.

The book is aimed at 7th, 8th and 9th graders and is for the publisher Lucent Books, a division of Gale Publishing. The book is will be marketed to schools and libraries.

To make the book relevant to the students it is aimed at, I need to include personal stories and first-hand information. The individuals will be identified only by first name and age. Their information will help make the diseases real to students, and will improve the book’s use as an educational tool.

I would be happy to provide more information or answer any questions you may have. Please contact me via e-mail at doughertywrite@yahoo.com.

Thank you for considering my request. I hope to speak with you soon.

Hi, Fredo! I know that I'm replying to a much older post, but I was looking for information concerning STD's/STI's and managed to find this post. As odd as this may sound, I'm actually not looking for this information for myself, but for a very close family member who just got over one of the aforementioned STI's. I'm not entirely sure if she'd be interested in providing info on her experienced or if you're even still writing the book; but I certainly wouldn't mind passing along this information to her.
I would imagine that it would also be very helpful to people who work or study outside the generic classroom -- mainly to therapeutic boarding schools (New Leaf Academy, Talisman Academy) that cater to kids/teens with special needs (emotional, educational, developmental, etc.).

Anyway, let me know with a PM. Take it easy. I wish you lots of luck with your success!!!
