At this point I'd try to be seen today to have a lesion culture done to confirm that this is still all herpes going on as well as another internal exam.

You can be resistant to the herpes antivirals ( tk deleted forms of the virus are what causes this ). I'm not sure that is what is going on here though at this point. If at some point you and your provider decide to test for it, you have to have an active lesion present and test it and send it off to the labs. I know quest labs does this testing , not sure about other labs.
