Hi,

I have asymptomatic HSV-2, and very seldom HSV-1 outbreaks (cold sores) but would like to attempt to have a relatively normal sex life. I would like to get on daily suppressive therapy just to lower the risk of transmission to any uninfected partners. I thought I had read somewhere a prescription for generic valtrex (valacyclovir?) is relatively cheap without insurance but I just called the pharmacy and they quoted me over $200 for a 30 day supply, which is really out of the question for me at this point.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Which drug, what dosage do I need, and which pharmacy to use?

Thanks!

Acyclovir is the cheapest, not valtrex. If you have a prescription from your provider, you can get 400mg 2x/day for 30 days at under $20/month from walmart, costco and similar places.

betsy
