My girlfriend tested positive for HSV2, I did not, so I have a few questions about protecting myself while still having an active sex life. I have cold sores (HSV1) on my lips a couple time a year. I know about using condoms , but was wondering since I have HSV1 can I perform oral without using one of those dams and not get HSV2

it's totally up to you and your gf what precautions you want to take. You can get hsv2 orally or genitally ( or both places ). the risk is smaller of contracting it orally but it can happen.

is your gf on daily suppressive therapy to lower your risk over all?

did she have an ob or did she just get a blood test screening done?
